Abstract

Updating the method of testing resistance of clothing for welders to small small splashes of metals in compliance with the requirements of the European standard

Project manager: Krzysztof Łężak M.Sc. (Eng.)

Project summary:

The aim of the task was to build a test stand and to develop a method and a procedure for testing resistance of materials used in clothing for welders protecting against small splashes of metals with consideration for the recommendation of the new standard PN-EN ISO 12127-2:2008. The developed method was validated, a procedure was developed for testing resistance of materials used in clothing for welders protecting against small splashes of metals. The validation of the method included checking - the correctness of the tests of resistance of materials used in clothing for welders by determining contact heat transmission from splashes of molten metal; they were evaluated on the basis of repeatability of the obtained test results done by two operators in two repetitions - repeatability of the motion of moving a cylinder with a model of a splash from a chamber of a furnace to a heat melt device on the basis of repeatability of the measurements of the temperature of the model of splash immediately before a heat melt. A procedure was also developed for testing resistance of materials used in clothing for welders protecting against small splashes of metals in accordance with the requirements of standard PN-EN ISO 12127-2:2008, which makes it possible to test the properties of materials personal protective equipment for welders is made of in accordance with the requirements of directive 89/686/EEC.
